Nature-inspired gifts for people who love trees 🌳

I love creating gift guides, partially because there's never a shortage of people making cool things.

This time, we set out to collect ideas around tree-related gifts, in honor of our newest release, A Field Guide to North American Trees by Garrett Ashley. Whether you’re shopping for a friend who’s happiest in the woods, a poet who never leaves home without a field guide, or someone who just really loves trees, this list is full of nature-inspired picks worth sharing.

These ten ideas come from small presses, artists, Etsy shops, and even include a secondhand find — because I  believe that shopping small and supporting makers is one of the best gifts you can give.

Reading Log Bookmark
A sweet little addition for any book lover, this bookmark doubles as a mini reading log—perfect for tracking nature reads, poetry collections, or trail guide favorites.

A Field Guide to North American Trees
This poetry chapbook is a collaboration between my press, Good Printed Things, and Loblolly Press. Written by Garrett Ashley, this compact book is for readers who love trees, words, and the quiet beauty of observation.

Leave No Trace Patch, The Landmark Project
A simple, sturdy patch with a message worth remembering: leave no trace. Great for backpacks, jackets, or gifting to your favorite hiker. Would also make a great stocking stuffer!

Loblolly Book Tote
From fellow-small publisher Loblolly Press, this cotton tote is sturdy enough for a stack of library books or to fill with snacks on your way to the local trailhead.

Tree Ring Ink Print, Red Bison Print Co
Printed from actual cross sections of trees, this series of prints would be a striking, earthy addition to any wall — part art, part record of time and place.

Painted Trees Prints, Ashley Ozmint
Moody and layered, Ashley’s art captures the light and shadow of trees and forest in neutral colors, making them a great addition to any space.

Appalachia Tee, Bitter Southerner
This classic line of tees evokes a bit of nostalgia and we think this particular shirt would be a great gift for anyone with a love for our part of the country (the Carolinas). There are other options available, including one that says 'Wild Places Matter', a sentiment we can get behind.

Vintage Tree Identification Guide
I remember having one of these on my family bookshelf when I was a kid, and you can find multiple editions online. Each one has its own charm, and the vintage illustrations are reason enough to collect several in the series.

Tree Sticker Sheet
Perfect for decorating notebooks, water bottles, or snail mail — an easy, affordable way to spread a little extra tree love.

Sibley Tree Flashcard Set
A fun, educational set for adults and kids alike. Ideal for naturalists, homeschoolers, or anyone who likes to learn about the world of trees.

Gifting for nature lovers doesn’t always mean another piece of outdoor gear. Sometimes the best gifts are the ones that help us slow down, pay attention, and bring the outside world a little closer. 🌳
