Meet the Author

Glenis Redmond is a poet, performer, and teaching artist with a three-decade career dedicated to poetry and community engagement. She is the first Poet Laureate of Greenville, South Carolina, and a 2023 Poet Laureate Fellow selected by the Academy of American Poets. Glenis has received numerous accolades, including South Carolina’s highest arts honor, the Governor’s Award, and induction into the South Carolina Academy of Authors. A fierce advocate for place-based poetry, Glenis has uplifted untold stories, particularly those rooted in South Carolina’s rich cultural and historical landscapes. Her latest book, The Song of Everything: A Poetic Exploration of South Carolina State Parks, was inspired by her visits to state parks with her grandson Julian during her battle with multiple myeloma. The book, which celebrates nature and resilience, is featured in Condé Nast Traveler and The Denver Post and is sold in South Carolina state park gift shops. Please stay tuned for the launch of the next book, Over Yonder: A Poet's Exploration of South Carolina State Parks Part II, in July.
